Apartment 302 Torre de la Vela (Watch Tower)

This tower is part of the Alcazaba and can be seen and admired from our terracess. It owns it's name to the "candle" (vela) where the bell is located. This bell is the main attraction of this tower. In the old days, its peal was used as a call for watering the farm lands and as an alarm in case of danger to the inhabitants of Granada. Every 2nd of January, and to commemorate the fall of the Alhambra to the Catholic King and Queen, there is a tradition for single women wishing to marry before the end of the year, to ring the bell and get their wish.
